NARTU Seattle Corsairs

Friend of mine's Dad passed away yesterday (Robert E. Shannon). Mr. Shannon flew Hellcats, Corsairs and Bearcats in the Naval Reserves (VF 891, NAS Sand Point, Seattle). Any information on squadron history + aircraft would be appreciated.

Bela, do you happen to know if his logbooks still survive? Our Corsair was at Seattle for a while. Maybe he flew it.

I don't know, but I will ask and post the answer back here. I think he was at Sand Point in the early 1950s.

Mark, I'm working on a model of a -4 Corsair marked similarly to this. Do you have any pics of -4s from this unit?

Hi Snake, yah! I've got a bunch of stuff I'll take a look see. But just to be clear, J Cook's info IS the correct info on that particular corsair, mine IS NOT correct (I hate when that happens )
Anyway I have several Corsair threads posted here somewhere way back several pages. Do a search of my threads if you like and you should be able to find some neat stuff.

Can I talk you into a NAS Grosse Ile FG-1D?
