Okay so I've been told it was from a Beaufighter, probably other aircraft as well?, and it was described to me as a Airscrew Filter Box? (whatever that is). It seems to have a coil, something magnetic? I really don't know so any help is appreciated. Cheers

Looks to be a simple RF filter for the pitch change motor for the prop. The motor is probably DC and produced a lot of electrical noise or was susceptable to it. The coil is a big choke to reduce the noise riding on the power feed to or from the motor. Put an ohm meter across it and you should see little or no resistance.

Not being familiar with the Beau's layout, it would most likely be located between the front spar and the forward side of the firewall. As tight looking as it is in the pictures I've seen, it could also have been installed on the engine mount itself. If you have an IPB or contact with someone at Duxford, it would be easy to determine the actual location.

The Beaufighter had DeHavilland Hydromatic propellers, which are actuated with engine oil pressure, so it is unlikely that this box, if it is an "Airscrew Filter", was fitted to a Beaufighter.
However, most of the Australian built (DAP) Beauforts were fitted with Curtiss Electric propellers, so this could be a more likely candidate. :)
