TBM Avenger Left Wing Needed

Fri Apr 11, 2014 11:11 am

My current investigation shows CAF, Muszala, Lane, Cartledge, Deckert, and Avezzie do not have any.

Did you check with Forest Protection Ltd. in Canada? Even though they've sold off all their Avengers, I believe they still have a cache of spare parts.

All of FPL's parts were sold to Cartledge and Deckert earlier this year. No wings.

What about Tom Duffy in NJ? IIRC, when his TBM caught fire and burned up about 5 years ago, the left wing looked like it survived fairly intact.

You might check with O'Con Aircraft up in Toronto...Vince O'Conner. When I was up there a dozen years ago he had a lot of TBM parts. A lot of it was covered in snow the day I was there...but it is worth checking.

There was a set in Anoka, MN that belonged to Earl Reinert - I don't know whether he brought them back to Illinois or not.

I recall the TBM fire - he was lucky to make it. But I don't have contact info for him. Can you supply something here or PM me?

Nor was I able to find O'Con Aircraft Supplies contact info, although their parts all seem to be out of doors. This wing needs to be airworthy and I don't really want to be digging out varmint nests, ripping apart the wing and addressing corrosion problems. Lazy I guess :D

Although he didn't work on TBMs directly, Nelson Ezell might be able to help. Since he's rebuilt many USN types, he might know of a source.

Also the guys at Yanks in Chino...they seemed to have a lot of stuff laying around.

Also, probably too obvious...how about the NMNA at Pensacola?

FYI,
The Duffy TBM moved on to a new owner. I am sure the owner will see this request but I'll leave it up to them to get in touch if desired.

Whilst I wish you the best of luck in your search, I'd respectfully offer the days of "low hanging fruit" from which to pick and choose are long gone, or at least few and far between.

Not a bad thing to network and put out the word, but probably best to head in the direction of tear in to it/jig it/repair it/build it/fly it.

Might try the folks at Geneseo, I think they had wings laying around but Muzzalla's might be in better shape. Vince Occonnor didn't have any wings when I was up there couple years ago.

Bears repeating and often.

What about consulting with some of the museums that have TBMs on static display? Perhaps they may be willing to work a trade for their "good" wing for one that does not need to be airworthy.

I tried that with Pima, no luck,
