Correct - it's PBY-6A BuNo 64083 which departed Elizabeth City on delivery to the Soviet Union under Lend-Lease 06Oct45 and became 'White 1'.

Focke-Wulf Fw190A-8/R6 with Soviet Air Forces insignia during tests in the Red Army Air Force Scientific Research Institute. The ‘White 14’ of 9./J.G. 301 (WNr.682011 ) flown by oberfeldwebel Karl Petersen was captured on October 11th, 1944 and tested by Soviet pilots.

The two-seater was the Me 163S, a conversion of the Me 163B with T-Stoff tank and ammunition bays removed (water ballast added) to make room for the second cockpit with dual controls. According to Green, this was only flown as a glider and only a small number were converted. There is also artwork of one in Jeff Ethell's "Komet."

Well I'll be (censored), that's the first I ever heard of a He111Z. Man, punch that into Google and select Images -- wow!!

Any ideas as to the color on the tails of these P-39's? My guess is white. Too bad we don't have several P-39's around, this would make for a nice scheme IMHO

Id say white. I believe there are a few airframes from the Tallichet recoveries (and others?) that are still in hiding that will (more than likely) be restored to static. Given the complexity of this Bell product, they aren't cheap warbirds to operate. Would be nice to see a company like Westpac or Ezell collect as many as possible and restore them in a small batch.

That HE-111Z makes my head hurt. Maybe it should have designated the HE-11111 for all those engines.
