Great stuff folks .... I like these old photos very much and it's nice to give some recognition to an important time in history many seem to brush off IMHO, just wish I had a smarter database in that compartment located on my shoulders. I guess that's where some of you guys come in. Thx indeed, fascinating stuff for sure.

The first three photos in that post are French built Salmson 2A2s, an excellent observation aircraft used widely by US squadrons, including the 1st Aero Squadron with it's big American Flag emblem. I have a pretty complete set of drawings for the 2A2, made by the Japanese when they produced them under license after WW1. Someday when I win the lottery....

Here the most successful US Salmson duo, Erwin with 8 victories, and Easterbrook with 5 as an observer

So, see The Fokker D VI is a dr1 triplane main body (fusl.), tail feathers,& wheels/struts, fitted with smaller DVII wings. Pretty snazzy little thing! Well, so much for WWI, Back to WWII , blah, blah, this went as well as a lead Zep....

A wee bit earlier from my Grandfather's collection. I'm sure I posted these years ago but if not, enjoy.
