Well now there's a hero for ya! ... A very distinguished and proud looked gentleman indeed and no question he served his country honorably. Another fine example of why we have the freedoms we do today. Thanks for posting a photo of your father. I'm sure your quite proud of him, ... as we all are.

Mark

Thanks for the CBI posts. My dad was with ATC flying C 46's and an occasional C 47 mainly from Kunming from Jan 45 till Sept 45. Still have all his old logs and paper work down to his transfer orders and even meal tickets and spare Chinese money found in his survival vest.

Looking at a couple pics you can see a C 46 fuselage standing alone. My dad had told me at one base they had made a C 46 fuselage into a mess hall. I wonder if that might be it?

Regardless thanks for the photos! It is still hard for me to comprehend that he did all that as a 22 year old. When I was 22 I could barely tie my shoes and get out of bed!

Believe this to be Assam, India but could be in China. I was lucky enough to speak with Sgt. Joe Webber before he died. I actually gave him one of Dad's three Air Medals for his 85th birthday with a certificate stating that without crew chiefs like him, pilots like Dad would never have earned the Air Medal. He opened it at his birthday party with 250 family and friends and was blown away. Sometimes, you get an opportunity to do something really cool and memorable. Joe died a few months later.
