They finally added a picture to the "Doc's Friends" page on Facebook.

Quote:
Doc restoration volunteers have installed the rudder and elevators on our historic B-29.

Now that is shiney; it looks like he is marked for turrets. Sure hope we didn't lose Ryguy or Jeremy Housdan as I liked both of them and considered them one of us (only on the inside). We really need them if they can post here without getting in to trouble. I would sure welcome them back as a friend even without the inside information or pictures, just as great guys.

She's coming along really nice!

Man, I wish I lived nearby, I'd love to be over there busting my knuckles on that.

In the meantime...who do I gotta talk to about getting a flight Engineer gig on the crew?!

Went to see FIFI this weekend in Ft Myers, Florida. I think a lot of the C A F and how they maintain all their planes. But I think DOC will be an even better show, he is all most brand new. I stood under FIFI and imagined her with no paint and all buffed out (like the pictures of DOC) in the Florida sun. Whew, I will need some good sunglasses. He (DOC) will be a sight to see.

Went up to Fantasy Of Flight This Weekend to look at Kermit's B-29 Fertile Myrtle. She looks to be in pretty good shape for what you can see of her. I could not find the wings and I saw only one nacelle. I think the other 3 engines are in his other hangar. It appears to me that with a few volunteers it would not take long to get her back in the air. I know she has wing spar problems. But according to Wikipedia, he has an entire airframe 44-84084 and from wings forward of 44-70049, both in storage at Borrego Springs, Calif. (just what I have read, I don't know for sure).

I'm sure that Kermit Weeks has the capital to get a complete B-29 in the air from the parts he has collected. The question is, does he want one?
