There is a much longer story that was told in a thread when it happened several years ago, but it wasn't the votes that caused it. The issue was over who controlled the Museum - the CAF or the Museum. There was a lot more that went on behind and in front of the scenes and basically at the end of it there was a decision that the actions of some (rightly or wrongly) violated the CAF Bylaws severely enough to be grounds for dismissal and were removed.
Personally, I think that no one involved handled the issue properly and definitely didn't go about it correctly. However, I definitely don't agree with the punishment. I think that they were acting in what they thought was the best interest of the Museum and the CAF, and while removal from the General Staff may have been warranted, removal from the entire organization, especially seeing how long all of them had been members, was not.
