The expert will focus and make the deal happen. A first. Time seller misses opportunity to get a contract as they ares not as skilled.

Glad to hear that. I read an article recently were Yagen was quoted as saying he was offered $9.5 million for the aircraft and turned it down. Perhaps Bob Jens' Mossie could be sold when it's completed, but I don't see that happening. It would seem odd to spend that much time/money restoring it just to turn around and sell it.

From a Facebook post I saw, it might appear that the F2G Race 57 will be the surprise listing. It has just been moved up to Sanders facility in Ione, CA and will apparently stay there until sold. It was also said that Ron Pratt (Owner or the F2G and P-51 Red Dog) is selling everything, including his large car collection. Platinum mentioned that they will be listing another Mustang next week, so with this news of Pratt, there is a good possibility that Red Dog will be that airplane.

Perhaps Bob Jens' Mossie could be sold when it's completed, but I don't see that happening. It would seem odd to spend that much time/money restoring it just to turn around and sell it.

For some people its the 'journey' not the 'destination' that matters, happens all the time in the hot rod/car world. People spend years building their 'perfect' car, and then sell it as soon as it is finished having already started their next project.

Didn't Mr Pratt also buy a Ford Tri Motor at the B-J Auction before buying the Super Corsair?
When is the last time 3 flyable Ford Tri Motors were for sale?

I had the same recollection, except I'm thinking it was a Hamilton Metalplane rather than a Ford...but I may be getting two auctioned aircraft mixed-up.

Incidentally, it's Ron Pratte with an "e" on the end, rather than as in Pratt and Whitney...

'Twould have been so cool to have seen 57 return to Bob O to operate as a team with 74. At least the duo did get together for that one famous photo shoot a couple years ago.

I know it's waaaaay out there but, I still have hope that Race 74 will be completely be rebuilt. Much how "By Request" was rebuilt.

Stop reading my mind...74 was my all-time favourite American Warbird, ever since I spotted that checkerboard nose sticking out from behind a BT-13 at Walter Soplata's place 32 years ago...I went ape, and Walt just stood there looking thrilled! I had followed the rebuild eagerly, and had very much hoped to see the completed Corsair someday.

Of course such a re-creation would depend at least in part on the wishes of the Odegaards. That aside, a Corsair is a much more complex rebuild than a Mustang, rarer as well, and 74 really was destroyed in the tragic accident in ND, whereas the P-51C, though that accident was no less tragic, was heavily damaged rather than totalled.

In the meantime, I suppose F2G 57 is now my favourite American warbird, and if she is being sold I look forward to finding out where she's bound next, and perhaps seeing her fly again. Did catch that one, flown by Mr Odegaard, at Thunder Over Michigan the year a quartet of racers stole the show...
