WASP Rose Parade Float

Tue Dec 31, 2013 12:13 pm

I have some friends that are working on the WASP float this year. You might want to watch for it!

The Skytypers will also be doing their thing over the parade with their fleet of Grummans.

Been following Jerry's exploits on decorating the float.
She also has flown her dad's T-28 and C-45 so is a certifiable  warbird pilot.
Great to see the WASP accomplishments celebrated this way.

Watched for it but the ABC channel seemed to cut to the start of a Bowl Game and so didn't get to see this event.
List said the Wingtip to wingtip float was item 88 out of 92 entries.
I think the last shown on the broadcast was item 86.
Hope it looked good and presented well to honor them.
Thanks to Jerry and all the other volunteers who donated there time to decorate this.

HGTV broadcast the parade, and I did get to see the WASP float. It was very nicely done, with a T-6 "flying" above the front of the float. They gave it a fair amount of camera coverage, too. Nice!

Here's to the WASPs! :drink3:

Here's the story on CNN about the float.

Grummans? Don't you mean N.A.A. SNJ's?

I don't believe they use round engines anymore.
Fuel and MX costs on real old Warbird A/C mean they have traded up to plain old GA A/C.

They use the SNJs on the East coast. The ones on the West coast use Grummans. I think they may be two different companies now.
