I was just curious on a couple of things (I turn officially old tomorrow and I'm in a contemplative mood :) )

First, did you know that WIX is part of a group of websites?

Have you ever visited the other sites? Check out the main page, resource centers listed on the left

How did you hear about WIX?

Yes, I am aware of the other sites, but rarely visit them. I check WIX multiple times daily, the other sites probably every few months. I'll often visit the registry section when I need a refresher on a certain warbird's history.

I just so happened to stumble across WIX while Googling for Warbird info several years ago.

1. Yes

2. I have visited some of the other sites, but they don't have any of the in-fighting, bickering, or the drama of WIX. So while the other sites are informational they aren't nearly as entertaining.

3. IIRC Tim Savage sent me the link about 10 years ago.

1. Yes! :drink3:

2. Yes

3. I started just generically searching the internet and found my way onto the WRG network via the registry. I would spend hours going over each aircraft file and reading what there was on them. I eventually found my way onto the forum and haven't looked back since. :drink3:

1. Yes
2. Yes but probably not enough. The Registry is a great resource.
3. At the encouragement of a friend I put my plane on Registry many years ago; however, didn't know about forum. Several years later a friend sent me a link to a thread as he knew I could answer a question about a particular Raven FAC. And have been on forum ever since....mostly a lurker these days though.

Thanking Scott for the whole site.

1. Yes
2. Yes, every so often.
3. I found WIX in the summer of 2007 while sitting in a hotel room in Bloomington, Illinois, waiting for a friends RV Motorhome to be fixed so we could continue our journey to Oshkosh! The first thread I read was Gary's Diamond Lil thread. We never made Oshkosh that year, the only year I've missed in the last 13 years..........

3. I believe I "surfed in" and found the registry, which, in turn, lead me to WIX. I lurked before becoming a member. I can't remember specifically what I was looking for when I surfed in.

Of course, WIX led me to Jack Kosko's crew up in Fawn Grove. It's been life changing to go from armchair enthusiast to a hands-on one, even if it is only on a periodic basis.

1. Kinda
2. Constantly, along with the Baugher site
3. As you've heard ten jillion times from me, I came here nine years ago looking for info on an elusive - or illusive - Buffalo. No, not the mythic beast of the great plains, but the Brewster F2A that Earl Reinert supposedly had hidden away (under the floor of a barn in Beloit, Wisconsin was what I'd heard from the other Victory Air Museum hangar flyers).

Come to think of it, Earl's Buffalo probably does qualify as a mythic beast of the Great Plains...

1. Yes.

2. I've used the Warbird Registry, but not most of the other WRG sites.

3. I was recommended to check WIX out when I posed a question on another board. Joined and have been an occasional poster and avid reader ever since.

1. Yup

2. Yup

3. Found it also on a random search around the internet looking for more stories and pictures about the Big Stick (B-36). Have had a love affair with old airplanes since my time in basic training at Lackland AFB. Still have a stack of pictures I took with my Polaroid of the planes on Celebrity Row there...gonna get around to digitizing them one of these days...if I can remember. Old age and all
