Me thinks there are going to be some pretty grumpy Brits, what with the Hawker Typhoon going to Canada and now the P-40B headed to the U.S.

..... and P-47 Snafu... although it hasn't even left Duxford yet, still in a crate. But I don't think there are any grumpy Brits, still a few aircraft going the other way across the pond. 8) TFC still has their P-40F and I've been fortunate to see the P-40B in the Curtis "4" formation, three P-40s and the Hawk 75 at past Flying Legends.

If you ask nicely, maybe they'll let you bite it, but that may be the closest it'll get...

(Yes, I know you were riffing on a theme.)

PS to get back more on track with the original subject of this thread (i.e. recent acquisitions of the Collings Foundation) does anyone know if they have yet to ferry their "new" Goose N985R down from AK to MA (or maybe to FL for maintenance?)

The Goose has not left Alaska. Rob went up there in July to move it to MA, but there were issues with one of the engines, and so it is still there. We did hear last week that they found and fixed the engine issue, so I suspect once the weather turns warmer and more suitable for flying a Goose from Alaska to MA, it will head this way.

Collings Foundation announcement mentions that the P-40B was acquired "Thanks to a very generous sponsor..." Has it been announced who donated the aircraft or funds for the purchase or do they remain anonymous? Not important, except the results were wonderful and appreciated by so many.

The donor wants to remain anonymous, so that is how it will stay. There are quite a few people that donate to The Collings Foundation who want to remain anonymous. It is not someone famous, so to 99.9% of people it would be nothing more than a name.
