ID Plates Folks:

Good day!

Found this interesting sample of the 1st XF4U-1 built. Does any one know the final destination of this aircraft?? The plate & photo is unique..& simple in design. A/C 1443!! Photo via C/w.com.

Here is my prized ID plate from a RAF Boston Mk. IIIA. According to RAF records the aircraft served with both 342 and 107 Sqdns. It was S.O.C after 41.25 flying hours.

They were made by a off site distributor, The plate you have here was a standard VS plate. I have personally seen at least a 1/2 dozen blank ones around Stratford. I believe they were the same plates as used on the Kingfisher. in the mid 60's they were cleaning out a out of the way area of the Lycoming / Avco plant (former CV & VS Plant) someone found a box of these plates un-stamped.

Zorro:

Actually I do not have any 1950-60's photos of Moffett Field aircraft BUT I'm sure Bill Larkins does!!! He too lives here in the SF Bay area. Corsairs (et.al.) were operted by VC-3 at Moffett and carreid the tail code of "NP", Perhaps Mark Allen may have what you are looking for as well. You can reach Larkins through the Contributor section of http://www.1000aircraftphotos.com
