"Minuteman" above was a restored warbird when photographed. You can tell by the incorrect US insignia, tinted canopy and variety of other warbirds in the background.


Severely beat up in a 1989 forced landing in suburban Santa Monica.

That first WI Mustang was why my Dad re-upped after the war. He was attending UW and Paul "Poopdeck" Poberezny called him to join the ANG with him. Dad went from Captain to Lt. To get back in and spent his career in the AF. Last flew B-47's during Cuban missile crisis...got out in 62.

A couple weeks ago I got a call from ATC with an IFR re-route, "To take you guys around WANG airspace." My FO and I giggled about that for the rest of the trip.

Interesting that the post-war P-47Ns we're using the Curtiss Electric Props. I read somewhere that around 1943 / 44 all P-47s we're supposed to be switched over to Hamilton Standard packages. We're they just using them up?
