The helicopter is Piasecki CH-21B, USAAF s/n 53-4324. It is property of USN. From 1970 through 2012, it was on outdoor display at the former Pate Museum of Transportaion in Cresson, Texas (a few miles southwest of Fort Worth on US 377). When Pate closed, the helo was moved by Chapman to their east Texas storage yard until a new home could be found. It is now on loan to VFM, where it is being restored for static display. The airframe is very complete and original, a real time capsule, but it needs a lot of restoration work after sitting outdoors for 42 years being ravaged by weather and vandals.
Thanks Dean! As it turns out I already had an Airframe Dossier for this one...
Aerial Visuals - Airframe Dossier - PiaseckiH-21, s/n 53-4324 USAF, c/n B74...I just linked it to the other two locations. Done!
Has anyone been by Chapman facility? Any idea where the B-1 cockpit came from? Any identifying markings on it?
Mike
