Ranger L440 Questions

Hi guys,

My name is Ryan Kirk, and I am totally new to doing restorations of any kind. I went out and purchased a Fairchild Ranger L440 and am having a few problems.

First : I cannot find the dataplate that tells me what model the engine is. I have been told to look on the front crankcase but there is nothing there..

Second : I do not know what tool to use to remove this gear as it appears to require a massive flathead screwdriver, lol--> http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/8993/problemgear.jpg

Third : What fuel do you use to run these engines since they originally used leaded fuel, and will modifications need to be made to the engine?

Does anyone out there know who sells NOS jugs for the C-5 engine?
