Tom Friedman asked me to post a couple of pics for him of some instrument panels he is trying to identify. Can anyone ID these for him? Hopefully he will chime in here and give you a little more info on them. I don't have anything other than these pictures he sent me.

I'm not a pilot so can't comment on the arrangement or specific use of each dial.

But it appears to me that in the top photo, where the instruments are inserted in the panel, that none of them are screwed in....and particularly on the upper right, there is paint loss behind the dial frame.

That would indicate to me that the gauges were placed in a hole that fit rather than to recreate a specific instrument panel for a specific plane....

You are absolutely right of course on the odd placement of instruments in the panel in the top pic. I should have been more clear. I think Tom is trying to ID the panel frames themselves, so please don't be distracted by the non-original/incorrect instrument mounting.

I am hoping Tom jumps in here, as this is his question not mine. I am merely the guy he asked to post his photos...

yowza, i'm here!! many thanks to steve dennis for posting my pics & for his help. my digital camera is ancient & sucks, + i don't get along with photo bucket!! you are all correct regarding the instruments, i just stuck what ever fit in the holes for display & decoration. they are panel covers, not panels. i have three, $65.00 each or best offer. i will post the measurements tonight when i get home from work.

Based on the cut outs, I would deffinately say they are all for panels to go in front of a pilot (as opposed to flight engineer, navigator, etc)

here is the scoop on the panel covers..... all 3 made of alumunium 2 bare metal finish, 1 w/ green chromate primer. each 1 measures 22 1/2 inches long x 9 1/2 inches wide. each panel cover has 14 vacant spots. i bought them from a dealer / collector in the mid west back in 1999. i forgot his name, but he billed himself or his company as the "bald eagle". he was succumbing to the last stages of cancer & needed to unload his stuff asap. i bought the entire collection. i think his name was bob mckowen?? very nice man. if you are interested in 1 or all three of the panels pm me or email me at fbt9598@yahoo.com. mean while.... the mystery continues as to what aircraft they are from.

Of the three panels shown, the upper panel in the second pic appears to be the center "floating" panel from a NA/Ryan Navion; the other two, no idea...
