Hi,

We need a new prop for our PT-26.

Climb performance in the airplane was, typically, lacking, and we weren't getting max RPM. We were thinking of going for a finer pitch prop. Does anyone have any knowledge of an alternative to the Sen- W86RA-61? (Other than an Aeromatic, due to cost.)

Thanks in advance,

Dave

Sensenich also made a W86RA-58 for the PT-'s That is a slightly finer pitch. I don't have
any practical knowledge if people currently use this propeller. It is the same Dia. just slightly
finer pitch. Is a legal propeller in the U.S. as it does conform to the T.C. not sure about how these things work in CANADA though. I have found the WOODENPROPELLERS.com to be a useful reference.

Have you considered other issues that may be causing performance issues? i.e. worn engine, weak
mags. ect?

Thanks, guys.

We found that climb performance was weak, particularly out west where the elevation was 4000 AGL. If our game plan involves going out there again, perhaps we should have 2 props -- one climb, and one cruise.

The engine was fine, although I suspect the airframe is a bit heavy.
