We had a special visitor this evening! Walt Bowe stopped by for the night with his beautiful P-40 on his way to Oshkosh.

Is this the P-40 that used to be part of the Liberty Belle Foundation?
Looking forward to seeing it next week...

Now owned by Walt Bowe, the aircraft has been based at the Schellville/Sonoma Valley airport where Chris Prevost of course bases his P-40N as well. Here's a great air-to-air image of the two together: https://www.facebook.com/VintageAircraf ... =1&theater

Prevost has since added a shark mouth to his as well, this past spring: https://www.facebook.com/VintageAircraf ... =1&theater

Cool. I have not had a chance to see this P-40 yet. The only time they came through town with Liberty Belle and the P-40, the P-40 did not have a pilot availible so it spent the stop tucked away in a hangar. Sadly the Belle was lost the following week...

Talking to Walt he is planning to stop at Granite Falls to meet up with Fagen's group. They are hoping to head to OSH as a flight of 4 P-40's Sunday. Not sure what the 4th P-40 would be (Fagen 2x, Bowe and ?). Should be a great sight and sound!

Just an update on the AirVenture WIX Gathering - it will take place Thursday evening, August 1st from approximately 6pm to whenever the Staffeldts get sick of us. The location will be at Dave and Cindi's camp spot in Warbirds Camping. The exact location is camp spot D-8 (delta eight), which is just about in the middle of Warbirds Camping. They have a Keystone Cougar 5th wheel camper with "Dave and Cindi" on the front along with some Mooney markings. For those of you unfamiliar with Warbirds Camping, this is the area with all the RVs and 5th wheel campers located directly west of the main warbirds and reenactors displays. IF I can work it out with Dave, we'll have the usual "Welcome WIXers" P-47 banner up somewhere where it can be seen. Food and beverage will most likely be simply burgers, hot dogs and brats.

Sounds good Zack, see you there. Also, thanks David, for hosting the gathering. :drink3:

North webcam just scrolled past a P-40 already at the Scott's ramp with an F4U...didn't get a good look but I think it was the CAF's P-40N in Tex Hill's paint.

I'm heading to Dubuque sometime this weekend to check out whats up there. On the news last night they showed probably about 30 T-6s that arrived yesterday and the P-51 "Gunfighter" flying around.

Trailer is loaded and ready to roll out in the AM. Should be up and running with full coverage Monday on Warbird Radio.com. This is the first year I haven't flown in... Feels different to be hauling a travel trailer (but a hot shower sure will be nice). See you in Warbird Camping for the party! No word if Ms. Evelyn will bring any Tommy's Hot Dog Salad??? I'll call her to find out.

Matt

And while you're waiting for Matt on Monday, you'll just have to be satisfied with the ATC feeds until then.
