Bad news - my wife Jenn has to go to Cleveland next week for work and won't be able to do any cooking for a WIX gathering. David, aka "Sabremech", had offered the use of his camp site in Warbirds camping to host a gathering. We could all still meet there, but I wouldn't be able to provide any food. Any thoughts?

Jenn's spreads are definitely the stuff of legends, but we're WIXers...we improvise...what would MacGyver do?

All we'd really need is a grill, some brats & burgers, buns for same, and some coolers for brew & condiments. Vegans are on their own.

I can haul tables & chairs if needed (but can I get access to the campsite & a place to park the Gigant?). I'm good for some boxes of brats & burgers as well.

A map to the campsite might be handy.

Oh yeah...for me would have to be Thursday night.

I'm flying in, so my schedule will ultimately depend on weather. But the plan is to arrive on Saturday and leave on Friday or Saturday...

He'd use his trusty knife to open several tins of Tommy's famous hotdog salad.

But Tommy's is so 10 minutes ago.

I was thinking something a little more ambitious...

with a truly American aerospace theme...

memorable... Wix-worthy...

something like...

I just got here last night and will be hanging with family and friends through the rest of the week and will be hitting the field this weekend through the whole week. An improvised party sounds good to me. Just say when!

I forgot my magic flashlight so no night shots from me this year.

Ha! Just kidding. I did forget my flashlight so it's off to Wal*Mart today to get a fill in.

Ok Al, just swallowed my gum... thanks for that...

Somewhat seriously, your pics and the webcams are my lifeline until I can get there later next week. You simply must cover everything new turning up for judging.

Sounds like some impressive vintage will be on the way as well (Can anyone confirm Jim Moss' Gee Bee Q.E.D. for OSH?...the thing looks like it eats SNJs for breakfast).

It's started. First warbird on the north end is a DH Chipmunk.

Vintage webcam shows a number of classics parked as well as museum's P-51, F-86, Mig-15, Mig-21.

From the looks of their Facebook page, the crew at Fagen Fighters might have their latest P-40 project there too. First flight planned for tomorrow!

Fantastic seeing the Fagen Fighters and TAA updates in my Facebook feed tonight. Reminds me of 2007 (I believe that was the year) when Fagen Fighters brought their P-38 to KOSH following restoration, and it was so "down to the wire" that the paint was still fairly much curing on the flight there. :D

Another "crunch week" hopeful. This one had totally slipped off my radar.
