Lets just hope it stays in North America.

Let's just hope it goes to an owner who will fly it and let it be seen (and heard) in the air by the maximum number of people, whichever continent that might be on.

It makes the Yagen Corsair seem like a bargain at 3.1 million, and the TBM a dead giveaway at $375,000.

I have a sneaking suspicion that wherever she goes... it won't be the North East.

My predictions for where she'll go is as follows...

Texas Flying Legends
Tillamook Air Museum
EADS
Fredikin Collection
Kermit Weeks

I'll put my money on one of the five.

Though I would like to see an "Emil" flying in Germany, I seriously doubt that EADS will buy one. They do operate 3 "Gustav´s", a G-4, a G-6, and a G-10 (although all of them were HA-1112 Buchon´s in their former lifes). But I can not see them buying an additional 109. Maybe I am wrong, but I do not think so.

Seems like a fair price considering it rarity and condition. After all, everybody owns a Mustang. :)
I agree with the others, hopefully it will go to someone who will fly it and show it to people in a safe manner (i.e. not ground loop it and push it to the back of a hangar).

This one's been (quietly) for sale for awhile now. Wherever it ends up, I just hope it doesn't turn into a hangar queen.

We're talking 109s here, much easier said than done!

My guess is it goes overseas. The U.S. dollar is weak right now. It's a buy opportunity for an investor who is flush with a robust investment portfolio thanks to the inept U.S. economy. It would be easy for it to go to Germany or Switzerland. Their warbird communities are well established.
The purchaser will have to have a fascination with the history and rarity of the aircraft. They'll be buying it because they understand its inherent value as a WW II relic. Its a totally different category of buyer than a P-51, T-28, L-39 owner that wants to do airshows, and wear the tight crotch fitting flightsuits.
Example; We had a military collector that bought a C-47 togo with his collection, locally because if it's wartime history. No onein his family is a pilot.

I agree with Tom and Matt. I don't care where she goes as long as she will be flown.

Although the Friedkin collection would be great, don't they have a Battle of Britain-veteran Spitfire?
