Need Help with C-47 propeller question!

Sat Jul 20, 2013 11:09 pm

Would like to know how to identify which C-47 and C-47A's were equipped with Ham-Std 23E50-6477A-0 (blade angle 16min/88max) propellers? When were they first installed? From my reading of T.O. 00-25-29, the 6477A-0 blade was used on many aircraft including B-17 and B-24s but this blade angle (16/88) was unique to the C-47(A). Is this true?

Could you tell me which variant of the R4D derives from the C-47 and C-47A?

If I understand your question correctly...
C-47 = R4D-1
C-47A = R4D-5 (later C-47H)

Yes JohbB, That's exactly what I was looking for...Thanks!

Looks like I struck out on my original request. What series of C-47/C-47A were equipped with the 6477A-0 Hamilton-Standard propeller blade?

Could someone suggest another source for this info? Maybe someone who is really into C-47-DC-3 power plant details?

Pete
