There is an F-86D Sabre for auction on Ebay now. 7/13/2013. Item no. 281134977720
I'd like to have it but, the transportation costs alone is way out of my budget.
Anyway, how can one tell if the Ebay seller has legitimate rights to sell this artifact?
Anybody know of a museum trying to get rid of an airplane?
Very little information given on the auction. Name of museum, contact info,
bu. no. of aircraft, etc.

Looks like Sabredog 52-10068, the one that used to be displayed at Camp Meade Victory Museum near Middlesex, VT.

I was just at the trailer a couple of weekends ago. Not a lot of info is given in that ad. Its been there a long time in that trailer and the trailer has damage.......I could go get pics if anyone is interested but the back is sealed with plywood and if it gets sold, bring a better trailer. As for the saber dog, I really don't know how they got it in there but I am assuming it can not be pretty.

Museum has been closed for many years. There is a thread on here about the AT-11 that once was there also. Your first statement is a question but this has been listed on Ebay before and the buyer bailed out for that reason. I don't remember how he got it but I could find out if someone wants more info. I have not seen him in a while but I could stand to go for a ride and say hi and maybe see his Half Track again.

If it's been around for years, I'd guess at this late date the seller has clear title from the USAF.
I've posted this before, but in the mid-60s I recall Revell Models was offering a F-86 static as the prize to a contest. IIRC, it had to be delivered to a school...or some such organization. So a few jets did make it into private hands. Anyone know more?

If I remember this ones history right, it was given to a foreign country. I think it was turkey. Anyways I remember reading that it was not supposed to return.

I don't believe there's ever been a flying civilian F-86D/L - what has prevented it?

And there just so happens to be an F-86 engine for sale on eBay.

Isn't the D model J47 unique?

It had an afterburner attached. That makes it at least somewhat different than the versions used by other F-86s.

Looks like someone bought themselves a F86? High bid, if I understand it right was $9600 and met reserve. Anyone here buy it?
