If Thunder Over Michigan was moved to the other Forum, this one needs to be moved to. Either move them all or leave them all in the WIX Hangar.

(Was it something I said?)

Advocators for the TOM show are miffed (im sure) because there show thread was moved to a lesser viewed area of WIX. The hangar page is the central home of the forum, therefore the most traffic. The airshows and events page makes more sense for all events BUT its not as viewed as much.

I dont think it was anything you said Dan K

I'll post this once more for those who can't get over being butt hurt about the moving of threads. (I think it is stupid to move them personally, unless they are just blatantly off topic.) There is an easy way to see all messages without looking at each sub forum individually. If you use this procedure and the thread you like doesn't show up, then it hasn't been updated since the last time you looked at it.

Red Baaron wrote:I don't like sub forums either but I found an easy way to deal with it. I posted this once before but I'll put it here anyway.

If people only look at one section on WIX and ignore the other sections then you run the risk of missing something that might interest you and is misplaced. If you just click the "view unread posts" button then everything shows up from all sub forums and pages that you haven't looked at and you can pick and choose what you like, regardless of the section it is in. From there its simple to click "board index" and then "Mark Forums read", thus clearing out all the other messages you don't care to read. If I didn't do it this way I would probably just check the main board too and most of the other boards are of no interest to me. Occasionally something will get put somewhere else and I'll find it interesting, but I also find it by using the procedure I just listed.

One other thing that is getting to be obnoxious is the massive amount of sticky's, several of which could probably stand to lose that status. The fifi thread hardly ever gets updated anymore and one of the guys that worked on the plane is dead and the other is no longer with the caf. The caf doesn't seem to do a lot of updating on an airplane that flies a lot and is on tour a lot of the time. What's the plan for fifi? Probably keep flying it since the work other than regular maintenance is finished. The Texas Raiders thread is really dated with very little new stuff that makes keeping it at the top worthwhile. There are others but those two come to mind right now. I think there is a need for sticky's but they should be for projects that are regularly updated or added to.

Dare I suggest another legend bio?

How about 345th BG Air Apache Vic Tatelman?

But please, oh please, Mr. Moderator: Don't send this off where threads go to die.

And if you are a truly valiant mod--pure of thought and noble of deed--bring the TOM and Topeka threads back...back where they can be perused and admired by the masses, unencumbered by the shackles of excessive searching and subgrouping...

If I was in your shoes, I'd do it for you. :drink3:

Peace!

You've all been waiting patiently for the next living legend bio. Your wait is now over.

Meet mustang driver Bill Lyons.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SPACE NIGHT, MOVING THE SHUTTLE, JETMAN AND MILITARY HEROES PART OF EAA AIRVENTURE EVENING PROGRAMS

Canadian astronaut who became YouTube sensation this year among presenters
EAA AVIATION CENTER, OSHKOSH, Wis. — (June 27, 2013) — Chris Hadfield, the Canadian astronaut who became a YouTube sensation earlier this year with his “Space Oddity” music video from the International Space Station, will be among the “Space Night” presenters on Tuesday evening, July 30, during the evening programs at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2013.

“Space Night” is one highlight of a week of evening programs at EAA’s Theater in the Woods, which features aviation and other personalities in programming specifically aimed at aviation enthusiasts. The evening programs are included with AirVenture admission and are sponsored by Mars Snack Foods.

The July 30 “Space Night” presentation will feature Hadfield – whose YouTube video posted in May 2013 has surpassed 16 million views worldwide – along with former Space Shuttle Commanders Charlie Precourt and Kent Rominger (now with aerospace company ATK) to talk about the end of the Space Shuttle program and the future of manned space travel.

“EAA members and AirVenture attendees have always been eager to hear in-depth about famous and innovative achievements during our evening programs at Theater in the Woods,” said Jim DiMatteo, EAA’s vice president of AirVenture features and attractions. “This year’s lineup is a tremendous mix of aviation history, accomplishments, and what’s ahead in the future.”

Other confirmed evening programs at Theater in the Woods include:
Wednesday, July 31 – “Bringing the Space Shuttle West: An Evening with David Knight”: Knight was a key figure on the team that brought the Space Shuttle Endeavor from Florida to the California Science Center in Los Angeles. He also led the 150-person film crew the chronicled the most complex move of an object through an urban area in history. His presentation includes unreleased film footage from Endeavor’s last mission and the journey to her new home.

Thursday, Aug. 1 – Yves “Jetman” Rossy: Learn about the development of Rossy’s unique flight suit that has allowed him to fly over mountains, in formation with fighter jets, and through the Grand Canyon. Rossy’s presentation provides more background to the multiple flights he is making during EAA AirVenture.

Friday, Aug. 2 – “American Warriors”: This special program is a fitting ending to a full day of AirVenture’ “Salute to Veterans” activities that honors veterans and current military members. The special guests will include top-level military honorees and pilots.

Add one more living legend: P-47 vet Herb Stachler

I'm guessing Capt. Stachler's mount "Lil' Herbie" is already familiar to many.

Too bad TFL's Razorback P-47 will not be ready for some time. I wonder if they will choose Capt. Stachler's markings for it...

They do. The projects I know of include 2 Bearcats, a P-47D-23, P-51C and a P-38L.
All quite a way from completion, the Bearcats are the only ones that have been started...

I hear ya', Bryan. A Jug would be nice.

Now, I'm usually bad at predicting these things, but I wonder if this year will turn into another P-40 gathering like last year.

The trick with OSH (being a convention and not an advertised airshow) is that so many unexpected treats often turn up. But if Fagen Fighters shows up with two Hawks, add TFL's, John Fallis has been a regular, Rudy Frasca as well. Might the CAF's attend again (to chase the Tora bunch around as in 2012)?

So, can anyone comment from the various camps mentioned?

Anyone know if Chris Kirchner's "N" is flying yet?

Dan, as much as I would like to see both P-40's go to Oshkosh, right now we only plan on bringing one from Fagen Fighters.
