Looks good. I'm off to Florida (Subject to airline staff travel!) in August. Looks like I'm off to the Cape!

Discovered they had a big ceremony just after it finished, saw it on the news while we were walking into Dixie Crossroads....and we were hanging out on the beach just north of KSC while it was going on.....guess I'll have to swing back over there next week... The building was impressive while it was being worked on.

Fantastic display, and KSC deserves to have it if anyone does. THANKS for posting APG85! :supz:

As a guy who has been in the shadow of JSC for 50 years, I was naturally aghast that Houston was not getting an orbiter. But getting the full scale mockup that we may eventually be able to tour the INSIDE ... as it sits atop a retired 747 SCA which we should be able to tour also ... makes me feel a whole lot better. Of course, they're showing the thing sitting out in the weather, which ain't gonna fly for long. But whatever, it's great to see the displays being designed so nicely now, as opposed to just sitting there looking kind of dead.

It is still a travesty that the shuttle was retired and we now have to pay for rides from the Russians, and now the Chinese can put men into space and the US cannot.

Eh, it's okay.... I guess....

But seriously, it is pretty danged neat. Now if we could get a display like that with a full scale Imperial Star Destroyer that would be something! ;)

We, as a nation, have a habit of developing cutting edge technology and throwing it away in its prime...

You should look into how the orbiter Endeavour will be displayed when they're done with it, it's going to be displayed vertical as in getting ready to be launched, atop a full STS stack! I gotta get down there to see that when they're done with their display: http://www.californiasciencecenter.org/Exhibits/AirAndSpace/endeavour/endeavour.php
