the movie "BRIDGE AT REMAGEN" starring George segal & Robert Vaughn is on now, made in 1969. there was just a b-25 bombing attack on the bridge & I noticed the early u.s. air corp star w/ the red dot insignia on the mitchells. no big deal on the grand scale of things, but I noticed nonetheless. the movie was filmed in Czechoslovakia, but I wonder if these SAME b-25's also were in "CATCH -22, which was filmed in Mexico that same year.

Tom, we discussed this when the TMC's An Officer and a Movie ran the film back in 2011. Chris Brame ID'd that Mitchel as TB-25N, 44-29121, N86427 in a color scheme commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Doolittle raid. He said she appeared in "Bridge at Remagen", "Hanover Street", and painted yellow in the film "Cuba"....now residing at the Spanish Air Force Museum at Cuatro Vientos. A few photos here...

I haven't seen the film in a few years, but as I recall they attempted to make it appear there was more than one B-25 by layering to different shots together..not particularly convincing, but as it's not an airplane movie I'll give them a pass. Now what would really be cool is a remake with Ar-234s bombing the bridge to keep it out of Allied hands (as happened in real life.)

I watched the movie last night and was not all that thrilled with it. It was okay, but not on par with The Longest Day or a Bridge Too Far.

Having read Ken's book, it was great to visit the museum in the bridge towers in 2009. Got to also by accident the statue and former home of famous grand prix driver Rudolf Caracciola who was from there.

I have always been interested in the filming of war movies, but I've never seen much written on the use of airplanes in the film, only the issues over the crew having to flee the country during the communist invasion and how they had to film the rest of the movie elsewhere.
That said, you never see the planes in any scenes showing the bridge itself (or any other filming location), so I'd always asumed they filmed those scene elsewhere and cut them into the final film...

There´s actually an older B/W German movie about the Bridge at Remagen. Typically depressing German war movie, which isn´t surprising tbh.
