What we know so far:

Pic # 1 We assume a crew photo from a P-51 squadron, with a close up of box with a P-51 on it from the same pic, we know nothing else, if anyone knows any more please share:

Pic # 2 P-38 we know nothing else, if anyone knows any more please share:

Pic 3 is Flight of 4 P-38 Lightning’s over Italy around 1944/45. 27th FS, 1st FG, 15th AF Italy MTO: Fill in any blanks in the AC history etc.

44-24217 (12) P-38L-1-LO:

44-24379 (13) P-38L-1-LO: Shot down by AAA over Padova Italy 23 Apr 1945, flown by Capt John D. Hurst

42-104428 (22) P-38J-15-LO:

43-28650 (5) P-38J-15-LO: “Sweet Sue / Nellie Ann” Flown by Lt Philip Tovera Jr (8 Victories)

Pic # 4 is P-51 is P51B-10-NA Mustang 42-106485 “Maggie’s Drawers” 380th FS, 363 FG, 9th AF. Lost 29 April 1944, due to mechanical problems on an escort mission to Berlin, Germany, while being flown by 2nd Lt Albert G. Johnson:

Possible ground attack mod is all that I can come up with so far!

The bomb loaded P38 is an 95th FS, 82nd FG bird. There are other photos of 82nd 38s bombed up like that. The painted nose is a good indicator too.

The Mustang the the flight of 38s are both well known photos that show up in lots of places.

Although Tovrea previously flew #5, it is flown here by Capt Chet Trout 27th FS OPS officer with #2 Lt Brickley, #3 Capt Hurst and #4 Capt Streiff.
Trout and Brinkley when KIA of April 17, 1945 near Passau, Germany. Trout went in with his a/c and Brickley bailed out to late. Hurst was #3
in that flight and was shot down a week later but survived. He died in Portland about 15 years ago. Streiff again the #4 died about 15 years ago also.
Trout and Brickley are buried Lorraine American Cemetery in St. Avold, France.
