Was out at the Yankee Air Museum this morning for their Memorial Day Celebration. The B-25 did a flyover. Nice event.

Went out to the ramp area and noticed that the massive "cement factory" was still in place. Also noticed that the entire northeast corner of the airport where numerous runways/taxiways meet is undergoing some sort of construction. Saw a bunch of earth-moving equipment.

A question for the TOM organizers: Is the "cement factory" (or whatever it is...) still going to be in place during the show or is it going to be removed come August?

Thanks!

Noticed over on the EAA Oshkosh thread that apparently the Cavanaugh Flight Museum will feature there De havilland Caribou during a warbird presentation on August 3. Now wouldn't it be great if we could have the Caribou stay up north for a little while longer for Thunder the following weekend??

It would look great flying with the C-123 and AC-47 in a Vietnam tribute segment..........

We are very close to being sold out for Fridays Taxiway Photography for this years Thunder over Michigan show. Less than a handful of slots remain. If you are planning to attend, now is the time to act.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

That's a GREAT looking Skyraider, Michael! That makes SIX Skyraiders announced for the outstanding warbird lineup in August. Thank you!

:D

Well, the Mosquito and 262 are no longer on the flight schedule on MAM's website as attending Thunder. I wonder if this is related to rumors of the museum closing and planes being sold?

I think the answer is pretty obvious. It is unfortunate that the MAM's Mosquito, Me-262 and Skyraider will no longer be part of the Thunder lineup in August, but this will still be an outstanding warbird air show and I have no doubt that Michael Luther and Kevin Walsh will pull out all the stops to get additional warbirds for the show.

We are still looking at an F-100 Super Sabre, Five Skyraiders, an AC-47, C-123, C-1A Trader and Two Hueys. Plenty of time to add more great warbirds to the lineup. I vote for the WHF A-4B Skyhawk, the Cavanaugh Caribou and Randy Ball's MiG-17 among other possible Vietnam theme warbirds, and I am sure there are other potential WWII and Korea era warbirds out there to help fill out the lineup also.

Looking forward to August!

:)

Are you friggin kidding me?? That was 2 of the biggest reasons I wanted to see the show - the ME-262 and the Mosquito. This is now the second time the ME-262 has been cancelled from Thunder, the first in 2010.

I vote we get the Collings F-4, A-4, another couple A-4s is the one based in Sanford FL and the one up in Illinois that was at TOM 2 years ago. Joe Masassa's OV-1 Mohawk would be a nice addition too as well as that Caribou.

All,
We share in the shock of the news of the sale of the Military Aviation Museum's collection.
Obviously, this negatively affects the appearance of 3 aircraft (Me-262, Mosquito and Skyraider) slated to attend THUNDER.
We are currently re-organizing and looking at various options in order that we can still present one of the best warbird air shows in the country.
Please stay tuned for further updates and as always we would love to hear your suggestions!
Regards,
Kevin

We are now just 6 weeks away from Thunder Over Michigan!

A few days back over on the Thunder Facebook page it was announced that "40 aircraft" have been booked for the show (not including the Skyraider, Me-262 and Mosquito from the MAM which were recently deleted from the lineup). With only roughly 15 or so aircraft announced so far, I am anxious to hear what some of the added warbirds will be.

Hopefully we will see an updated performing and static aircraft list on the web site soon.

:)
