A 2-3 hour documentary that solves the mystery would be a huge hit. $3 million would be very affordable for something like that.

If they don't, I'd suspect it's because of a lack of credibility of TIGHAR.

We'll see.

Alhough it might be a good vehicle for subtle humor as the Canadian Film Board found out in The Defender, starring Bob Diemert. It isn't often you can make a cult classic on such a low budget.

The whole TIGHAR A.E. story is kind of interesting in that it takes selective data and jams it into their unchangeable story of what happened, it reminds me of the Whitehead in-flight photo analysis website in that respect. I think it should serve as a caution to researchers everywhere to not jump to conclusions and to look at what the evidence is telling you rather than making the evidence fit the story you already 'know.'

I see now that I'm guilty of the same and I'm just about ready to scrap my own little research side project and go back to the start for the sake of being sure it's RIGHT this time.

For three mil you could buy an Electra and get a woman that looks like Emilia. Well, maybe just get the Electra.

For three mil, yeah buy the Electra. Get a woman that looks like Emilia? Why?

I thought these guys had a P-38 to recover from the English channel.
We've actually seen pictures of that. It could really be recovered. I guess it doesn't have the 3 million dollar appeal though.

Throw a couple of broken face cream jars and a woman's leather shoe heel near it. :)

But, it's what you DON'T see that proves that it's the Electra! You don't see a rusty old freighter, you don't see a sunken PBY, you don't see a scuttled sub... therefor there's only one thing it could be. Case closed. :bs:

Succinctly put Rob! I agree.

So IF they find a piece of her airplane. (That'll be the day!) And then????? I simply don't get the obsession with her.

Mudge the ennui stricken

Because SHE'S a WOMAN who had to endure a round the world trip with a drunken machismo for a navigator, and it's the least they could do for her suffering.....

CNN has bought into this, too: http://www.cnn.com/2013/05/30/world/earhart-plane-search/index.html?hpt=hp_c3
I guess TIGAR's tactic is to make ridiculous claims, get press, get donations from people who don't recall the last time the mystery was claimed to have been solved by the same people, then slink away while folks forget, then after a while repeat the process to infinity.
I truly feel sorry for anyone who gives these chowderheads any money at all. You're far better off buying a lottery ticket. At least a lottery ticket does have some chance of paying off.
