Well it's late and Ive been kicking around this idea for while. P-38's have always been my favorite plane due to the style, and what hey were build for. And because of this I've always wanted to own one (nearly impossible). After much disappointment I thought of the next best thing, a restoration project. The biggest problem with that though is having a wreak to rebuild in the first place. So my question to all of you: Is there any P-38 wreaks still out there that I would even be able to get the ownership/rights to? if so, where? and how? thanks again,
-Mad Hatter,

Mad Hatter, I see your from Vancouver WA. If you would like to get involved in a warbird restoration without having to spend your own money, hop on over to Milwaukie OR and give us a hand with the Lacey Lady B-17. We are looking for volunteers. The restoration is under way once again. PM me and I will tell you more about it.

There was a car dealer guy looking for a P-38 project about 5 years ago in the Seattle area (as seen on Barnstormers). Wonder if he ever found one?

So next time someone asks a simple or naive question, we should just jump all over them and berate them assuming it is a joke rather than trying to be helpful?

Good plan!

Doesn't Gerry Yagen have a whole bunch of P-38 identities? (the number 7 seems to spring to mind)

No worries, Winger. I thought it was obvious what you were refering to. GG was the most publicized wreckovery ever, and should have been recognized by all but the newest of newbie.

It's not like you'd claimed to have recovered them and they are on the boat home, your personnels chomping at the bit!

To give a serious answer to Hatters, the guy you need to contact is Tom Reilly. He was doing just what you describe years ago. Don't know what happened to the stuff he collected, but a phone call would sort that out.

Do you know of how to get hold of him? Or just try and find contact info through Google?
