Mounted on a pole (actually on the other side of the gate) in 1973 for the RNZAF 50th Anniversary she was recently brought down for a inspection and a few repairs due to corrosion. She is now back in her original 1960s paint scheme, the odd colour on the wing tips and rear fuselage is to represent the Day-Glo Orange used for real but it wouldn't last long in the sun so a different colour that would last longer was used.
The eagle eyed will notice a mark on the centre of the roundel. This was the Silver Fern (original a white fern but there was a lot of "White Feather Airways" comments from other Air Forces!!)
1972 saw it replaced with a Red Kiwi as used by the RNZAF to this day.
