I'd like everyone to meet ConAir Tanker #60~

Don't get me wrong- last week a Convair (and CL-125) was buzzin' round as well,
but this Electra is a new sight for me.
I dig it!!!

Found two L-188's belonging to CONAIR, CF-ZCS l/n 1060 originally EASTERN AIR LINES 1959-1969 then HR-SHN.
CG-YCG, l/n 1138 originally NWA as N 134US, then CF-IJR Imperial oil, N.W. Terrirtories, then EI-HCE with Hunting, et al.
Did CONAIR give up on the 737 tanker?

A friend of mine who lives in Anchorage, Alaska saw the A6M3 Zero NX553TT (once known as the Mojave Zero) take-off and fly around a bit today, so it is good to know it is still getting air under its wings. I believe its been operating out of Merrill Field.

Sunday sightings: a couple of T-6/SNJ types, and a beautiful Cessna 195 (NMF with white and red trim!).

Over the weekend, The Liberty Foundation was flying The Movie Memphis Belle in town.
Great to see her again. The last time I saw here was in 1980 at Boise when she was a fire bomber.

A photo I took them is in the newest Final Cut.

I saw eight C-17s in trail formation heading south through Olympia, WA yesterday evening. They turned Southeast near the Olympia airport. No clue where they were going...

Probably over to Yakima Firing Range. It's that time of year to see I-90 packed with Guard convoys from JBLM going to play with the rattlesnakes, and I'm sure the airborne guys wanna play too-it is really cool seeing three or six 'Moose' in formation going or coming.

Today, I saw two Kiowas going South out of JBLM. Then I saw an Apache going the same direction. Then, I saw two Blackhawks going North. All within about 20 minutes!

Yeah, that's what I thought, too. I was active duty Army and used to see 141s from time to time doing drops when I'd be in the field at Yak. They were in trail formation like you'd see in a paratroop drop. Wish I had a camera with me, it'd been a great shot from the WalMart parking lot in Tumwater where my wife first spotted them...
Never seen eight in formation like that before.

Saw a V-22 Osprey flying low (maybe 1,000') over Norwalk, California yesterday afternoon, probably out of Los Alamitos.

It wasn't flying in airplane mode, but in partial helicopter mode. Seemed to be headed northwest.

First one I've seen in person.

What I'll guess was Bill Anders SVN marked T-28 (can't think of another local one heading North towards KBLI) just pulled me out of a post dinner 20 minute long 'blink'. Yard work and it's sunny and warm are to blame!
