It is pretty. Can any A-1 buffs tells us whether the markings are accurate? I can see the stars 'n bars are wrong, but that'll be easy to correct.

The markings on the Collings Skyraider are not only accurate, but actually specific to that airframe when she was based at Quonset. The stars and bars were actually corrected not long after that photo was taken. If you google Skyraider 135188 I believe some photos of her in this scheme while on active duty will pop up.

That link has a shot of her after the stars were fixed. One other side note, since joining the Foundation, she has been based again at Quonset and has been visited by several pilots who used to fly her while stationed there.

In a reverse lend- lease situation, the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF), 8th Air Force, operated just over 100 de Havilland Mosquitos in Europe in World War II. These were Mk. XVI's and were assigned to the 25th Bombardment Group at Watton, Norfolk, England in 1944/45. They were principally used as a high-speed, high-altitude weather and photo reconnaissance platforms.

I'm sure they're trying, but I hope they can get a "station wagon" AD-5. I don't think I've seen one fly.

I have ben fortunate enough to see two of the AD-5/A-1E types fly this year so far. One at Sun 'n Fun in Florida in April and one at Planes of Fame/Chino this past weekend.

I have no doubt they are going to try to get at least one of the side by side seating AD-5/A-1E model Skyraiders to complement the four single seaters currently planned. One or Two of these would really round out a Skyraider "gathering."

Looking forward to future Skyraider and "other" warbird addition announcements to the lineup.
