So that's what the sky looked like above all that crap yesterday. What a fantastic shot Zane! Thanks for sharing!

I work right across I-5 from Fort Lewis, and there have been V-22s overflying my building several times over the past few days...

Last night I heard an airplane over my house. It sounded like it had radial engines and jet engines.
Do aircraft like a Lockheed Neptune normally cruise with all engines 'turning and burning'?

Flightaware didn't show anything.

Heading back to the office from my lunch break a few minutes ago, as I was walking across the parking lot, I was treated to a mini air show! Cavanaugh Flight Museum's Caribou and Fat Face Skyraider and four assorted AT-6/SNJ types passed by, heading east. That was one fine six-ship flypast! Neato! Sorry, no photos (we're not allowed to have cameras or use our cell phone cameras on company property). I guess they were headed for an air show someplace this weekend?

Second interesting and unusual sighting for today...

On my way home from work every day, I take the President George Bush Turnpike westbound across the northern suburbs of Dallas. That route takes me right under the approach to runway 15 at Addison Airport, KADS (which, by the way, is home to the outstanding Cavanaugh Flight Museum). Today, I was overflown by an interesting two-ship formation approaching KADS... a pair of Mitsubishi MU-2s cruising in a VERY tight formation, with the wingman tucked in real close behind the leader's right wing. They were very close to the field and still didn't have their gear and flaps deployed, so I assume they must have done an overhead break for downwind, or perhaps they just made a pass down the runway and continued on. Either way, it was something you don't see every day... or ever, for that matter.

Say what you will about the MU-2. I've always thought it's a very attractive airplane.

I haven't seen two rice rockets in the same place in 35 years, I thought they'd all crashed (they're good at that) or rotted away.

The Cavanaugh formation was for the Texas Rangers opening day flyover. They were a tad early on the timing, but when you're not doing it weekly, I don't expect perfection. :)

Scott Slocum posted a few pics on the Cavanaugh Flight Museum facebook page from the back of the Bou.

Saw a couple of Mustangs today. Oh, and a couple of P-38s too.

Return on the Sea Knights over Bristol, TN.
Flight of three passed by my house Sunday afternoon on their way toward Bristol Motor Speedway and on to unknown destinations.

Also barely caught a Blackhawk passing by BMS Monday. Heard the sound and rushed out to snap this photo.

And just for good measure, a few aircraft that passed by my house this week.

I almost saw about a 5-ship formation being led by a Mitchell entering the Ellington pattern about 1/2 an hour ago. They got behind the trees before I could make them all out..sounded good tho... :)

Last year in Houston two MU-2s circled downtown one morning, also in a very tight formation. I wonder what they are up to? Too close together for one to have been a photo ship.
