Not trying to be picky, but I believe that back to back butterfly clamping all those metal lines in three or four places rather than letting them vibrate against each other and separating the two lines in one Adel clamp into back to back clamping with a common fastener might not be a bad idea to prevent issues and failures down the road. Shorten up your screws, 1 1/2 to 3 threads past the end of the nut threads is plenty.

What awesome work taking place there! It will be so kool to see this P-82 take to the skies someday along with the P-82 undergoing restoration in Minnesota!

Inspector, I agree with what you are saying it doesn't look right but these guys have to be working off of drawings and if that is the way it is shown, that is the way it should be.It becomes an inspection item and that costs time.So this isn't a Gulfstream or Falcon Jet....I would do it by the drawings and keep my inspection mirror close by.

OK by me, they'll be your hard to get to,unexpected leaks when the lines vibrating together cause cracks and leaks. If it was going to be static no problem, but if it's gonna fly, I'll take the points off for better safety.

I had the day off on Good Friday and took the RV-6 down to Douglas to see the F-82 and B-17 projects. I taxied right up to the hangars where the projects are located and asked the first people I saw if they minded if I looked around, took photo's etc. I also asked if there was anywhere they didn't want me walking in either of the workshops. The guys working on the B-17 said "No problem, do whatever you want, just don't post any pictures of us doing work or you'll ruin our reputations."

That was a good way to begin a great visit. I was allowed (encouraged?) to go anywhere and ask anything - the folks there were very polite and accomodating to me - your everyday random drop-in visitor.

Between the restoration shop, the WWII Flight Training Museum (open Friday's and Saturday's) located within easy walking distance, and the nice people (Tom Reilly and Weezy were very accomodating), I had a really good time.

Anyway, interesting projects and friendly people. Highly recommended if you ever get down to Douglas, GA.

By the way, the work they are doing is top notch. But you knew that. ;-)

Discussion is fine here, but have you contacted Tom Reilly, the person who could actually make a decision on the issue?

Guys, hang on, the lines haven't been secured yet. The brackets for them still need to be fabricated. Sheesh.....

Kyleb - I was a little pre-occupied when you came down. We had just moved the B-17 fuselage, and I was having trouble aligning the jig. Actually, you did mis-interpret what I said. I was more concerned about YOUR reputation. If you had posted pictures of me 'working', people would start accusing you of photoshopping the pictures

I noticed a guy (you, as it turned out) who was intently staring at several plumb bobs and strings and working the come-along to pull the fixture into alignment. People in the middle of that kind of thing don't need a distraction...

Nice work you're doing there.

Kyle
