Pictures of the B-17 "Jack The Ripper"

Sat Mar 30, 2013 3:42 pm

I friend of mine here in Waxaville Uncle was the top turret on this B-17 and I did a search here on the board and found nothing but I wanted to find some and give them to him. The serial # shows 41-24490 and the a/c code is D-FC...

TIA,

Lynn

B-17F-15-BO, l/n 3175, 324th B.S. 91st B.G., brought down over Muenster 2/22/44 MACR 2640.

A right side full length color rendition of 'Jack the Ripper' can be found by doing a 'GOOGLE IMAGE' search of '324th B.S. , 91st B.G.' and clicking on the small piece of the nose art.
She had a bunch of famous stablemates!!!

There are two pictures of the plane in Marion Havelaar's "The Ragged Irregulars of Bassingbourn".

"Jack the Ripper" had the distinction of being the last of the original B-17s that came over with the 91st to be lost in combat.
