When they are still active service, Herr Inspector! When they begin their civilian life they join the ranks of the "classic" meaning of "warbirds"....at least that's what I believe he was referring to.(EDIT: Of course you could say the active combat aircraft are "warbirds" and the eventual civilian versions are "Warbirds", but I got no dog in that hunt.)

Then you'd better get the thread about the S.S. United States off the 'WARBIRD' page and I'd better never see another photo or article, or any mention of B-52's since NONE of them will ever wind up in private hands except as blocks of aluminum.
Or, you could start your own Website and tightly control everything on it.

I was in court in Middle River, MD today for a hearing on a small claims action. The other guy brought his attorney, I was by myself. Judge ruled for my company. As I walked back out to my car, the Maryland ANG was nice enough to send an A-10 overhead for a victory fly-by.

Knowing I was so close to Martin State Airport, I took a detour on my way back to my office. I wanted to stop at the Martin Museum, but it was raining. That didn't stop me from seeing a second A-10 taxi out to the active runway and take off. I was stopped at a light when I heard a tremdendous rumbling. I looked across the street at the train tracks, thinking a train was coming. Nope, it was the A-10 throttling up for take off. It may have not been the proverbial homesick angel, but boy those A-10s can climb out fast!

Not my yob, Inspector...nor my care. I attempted to explain distinctions created by resident pigeonholers in discussions of the term in the past. It tweren't an attempt to twist yer knickers, Sir! I gave up long ago wondering or bitchin' why some subject matter gets banished to the back 40 and others are hunky-dorey. (I kinda like it cause it seems to drive the Commonwealthers mad at times! :wink:

Perhaps you could just go by what the owner of WIX says, since it is his board and all.

Today EFD; C-130 Hurricane Hunter, QF-4, NASA T-38, 2 OK Air Guard Alert Birds ( scrambled with live missiles ), Me-262 ( 3 sorties ). Also Coast Guard Dauphine, MD 500F.

Tomorrow we plan on a couple of Me-262 and at least one TA-4 sorties.

B-17G "Chuckie" taxies before departure from the Military Aviation Museum in Va. Beach on March 3rd, 2013 enroute to some maintenance followed by an airshow in Florida. She'll be back to the MAM for our "Warbirds Over the Beach" airshow the 3rd weekend of May. Ain't she pretty?
