Again -- as discussed before, while "National" would denote a government run museum in most countries, here in the US (where I'm sometimes told we like small government) we allow private museums to fulfill the "National" role. It is not a meaningless title; Congress designates only one museum per subject matter to be the "National Museum of X", although the subject matter can, as we see here, be drawn pretty narrowly.

In order to get the bill in front of Congress to designate this a National museum, this museum's pet Congressman had to represent to that body that "the National Museum of World War II Aviation in Colorado Springs, Colorado is the only museum in the United States that exists to exclusively preserve and promote an understanding of the role of aviation in winning World War II." Okaaay...

Since the museum has not in fact been designated a National museum so far as I know, there is definitely some here IMO. But whose time and effort would it be worth to mount a legal challenge to it?
