I understand Kermit may have purchased the Howard Hughes S-43. Can or will anyone confirm this?
We would love to see her in Startford but Kermit would be a great caretaker as well :)

That's the most interesting rumor I've heard in ages! I'm partial to that bird, need to go visiting again......

If it is indeed true, then it will be a very fitting home for her. Considering the S-39 and S-38 are there. I look forward to seeing all three in flight together!

Bittersweet. I've been kinda hanging out with that a/c for as long as I can remember, back when it was just a pile of parts in a hangar at La Porte and beyond, so it makes me little sad to see it go away. On the other hand, I've seen the deterioration and neglect firsthand, and can't think of a better new home/owner.

Now what I'd like is to hear the story of how it came to Kermit, I've heard countless tales about the mysterious former owners......

I've got some original Hughes sales literature for this airplane that should probably go with it.

Not much of a rumour, it has been in the public domain for a couple of weeks since he registered it

http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry ... bertxt=440

According to his latest post on Facebook, he's decided to truck it to Florida for a full restoration.

I'd contact Kermit directly. Either through his Facebook page or the Fantasy Of Flight page.

Good, it has a good home and I'm sure people will see and appreciate it.

Nice of Howard to help him to acquire the S-43

Several of you asked about the back-story I mentioned, which I wasn't going to mention until many of you asked. For those of you who only believe in a five-sense reality please do not proceed. For those who wish to, please proceed at your own risk!

As long as I've been fascinated by flight in my early teens, I've been fascinated by the worlds around us that we do not see. In my early twenties, after several years of trying with intent, I began to have conscious OBE's. I later had the opportunity to explore "other realities" at the Monroe Institute over a two year period. During one particular exercise there, Howard showed up unannounced and talked to me for a couple of minutes. This was not the first time he had done this and during this particular conversation he told me that he would help me get his S-43, as he knew I was very interested. That was six years ago when the airplane was financially way too far beyond my financial reach!

This experience and many others are all in a book I'm finishing about my metaphysical experiences called "The Journey Never Ends!" Regardless of how this ultimately unfolded or what you believe, it keeps working for me so, I can only continue to follow that which leads me beyond myself.

Again, "Thanks Howard!"

FYI - I've NEVER done ANY recreational drugs during my entire life. I'm living this fairy tale and even I still find it hard to believe!

Well what the heck -- I hope it keeps working for him is all I can say.
