This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Still trying, often unsuccessfully!

Of course, you should see the airplane first at our own show in May at Va. Beach.

Or, ~cough~ last September in NZ.
Either way, it's a currently unique Warbird worth traveling to see.

Round two at the Whistling Walrus this year

It'd be great, but I'll have to take a raincheck for this one, I suspect. But I'm sure it'll be a great gathering.
Anyone considering the show, but not sure, I can thoroughly recommend it.

Thank you sir. Checked out your site Mike. Pretty extensive.

I'm getting back into photography in a big way now. Maybe we can chat. Are you still attending and shooting air shows? Didn't see anything newer than 2008 on your website.
Just for interest I'll post a few from Hamilton last year. Weather was threatening and light was pretty flat most of the day but it was a good show. Was disappointed that the FW-190 didn't make it up or the WWI stuff couldn't fly that day but these things happen.
Would love to get down to Virginia this year. Went to Oshkosh last year and have set myself a challenge to go to a new show every year.
Off topic, but would love to hear from someone about the Virginia Beach show.

Nice shots Rick.
Welcome to Wix. Hang on tight 'cause it gets a bit crazy some times!
Just remember to not feed the trolls, and not to throw sand in the sand box, and you'll do fine
A little shout out for my favourite show, if you're trying to get to a new one each year, Geneseo!
Lots of threads on that here.

Thanks Andy. Yes Geneseo is definitely on my radar. It's a lot closer too. I set a goal of
at least one new air show each year. Two would be better.
A couple more from Hamilton last year:

ripcard, first off welcome to wix and that is a great shoot of Chuckie. If you get to make it down to Virginia Beach for Warbirds over the Beach, you won't be disappointed, as long as the weather holds out. It is a great WW2 Show, we get a really really good turn out of rein-actors. And the Museum is opened up great for all to see and normally just about everything that is airworthy goes up both days. Last year was a bummer because of high winds and rain. We are hoping for clear sky's this year. There is a Link at the end of post that has some photos from two years ago when the weather was good. Personally I am supper excited with the hopes of the Canadian Lancaster coming again, it seems that Jerry and our Canadian friends have a pretty good trade between each others shows worked out. So here's to hoping to see them bring the Lancaster back again. Plus the Mossy, Jerry's Spit and Hurricane will make for one great photo shoot.

Thank you Travis. It is great that the different Museum/Collections can have reciprocal agreements. I'm sure it benefits their operations but, more importantly, it gets these beautiful aircraft out and about for more people to see and appreciate. CWHM and VWoC have an excellent working relationship with members of either having access to respective buildings as well.
Going to try hard to get down to Virginia Beach this year.

Last year was my first time at the Hamilton show. Very impressive... lots of pros, a couple of cons. The Mossie would be very cool to see.

I'm definitely planning to attend this one! In fact, I'll actually have to drive right past Thunder to get there. It's only a 1 1/12 hour drive to Willow Run for me, vs. five hours to Hamilton..but I've been trying to catch up with Diamond Lil/Ol' 927 for years. The last time I saw her was '05, before Gary's big makeover. Of course, the Merlins On Parade formation also makes the trip more than worth it. It's the wife and my anniversary weekend..fortunately she loves airshows!

The Hamilton show looks spectacular, but does anyone know the nature of the Washington DC commitment that is causing the Mossie to leave Sunday a.m.? I will try hard to get to Hamilton, but it might be easier for me to be in DC that weekend.

I agree it would be nice to know what the planned event is in DC for which the Mossie is leaving Hamilton on the 16th of June.
But the Hamilton show is a lot more than just the Mosquito. I would not go to Hamilton just to see the Mossie fly, but it is a highlight of a show that includes a lot of great flying warbirds. As one who loves vintage jets, I am hoping that the Vintage Wings of Canada Hawk One Sabre will be added to the flying lineup again this year and I am always hopeful that this may be the year that the Jet Aircraft Museum gets to fly a T-33 like the "Mako" at the show.
