I just came across my grandfather's obituary who passed 3 1/2 years ago. It mentions that after he came home from flying the "hump" he flew for the 7th Ferrying Command. Does anyone have any info on this unit, maybe some pictures? I've been thinking of him, wishing I could call him and have another conversation with him, but I can't.
Here's the obituary:

Not my area, but I'd suggest you start with the NMUSAF, that's what they're for.

Great Falls, Montana was the starting point for ferrying aircraft to Fairbanks, Alaska for the Soviet Air Force. Russian pilots would then take them over for onward ferrying. I'm not at home for a few days so can't check my reference books. There is certainly a lot of information and photos available for this operation.
