I happened to see a restored world war 2 sherman tank,( complete with tank art,) on 91 south bound by bloomfield, ct. It was on a 18 wheeler. Anybody from the area know where it was going or who owns it? Sorry for no photo

Frank, I can tell you for sure that if I had won the lottery the other day, it would've been MY Sherman going down I-91! Only I would've waved to you with a big smile as you passed!!! :D :D :D :D
Jerry

BTW, I'm not sure whose it was.

Lots of Sherman's around, without a pic or serial number it might be impossible to tell which one it is.

That is apparently Chrysler-built M4A3(76) HVSS #61178 W-30114200, built sometime between August 1944 and April 1945.
The drive sprockets look to have been replaced with the earlier VVSS type at some point.

All the best,
PB

This one looked to be a brighter green, yellow stripe I think around the turret and nose art on its right side

There is a restoration shop in Mass that restores armor. I believe they were restoring one for a customer, it was probably that one.

Nah, it didn't have the invasion stripes but it sure did look well cared for. Jerry, if you won that lottery I think you'd be buying a lot more than that sherman tank!

Where in Ma. do they do that type of restoration?

$400K for a Hellcat? Wow have prices shot up. Probably a better investment than gold.
