A place where restoration project-type threads can go to avoid falling off the main page in the WIX hangar. Feel free to start threads on Restoration projects and/or warbird maintenance here. Named in memoriam for Gary Austin, a good friend of the site and known as RetroAviation here. He will be sorely missed.

For our Corsair F4U-5 restoration project we need blue prints or patterns to rebuild or make replicas of the ailerons, at this time we only have some metal parts of the originals, we need something to work on as a pattern with measures.
The Structural Repair Manual does not have a complete information for us to work. We can make the parts in our shops.
If anybody has some info. please send me an PM or and e-mail to:
chelepilot@yahoo.comYou can check our restoration pictures on our Museum FB page on:

Capt Eris:
Good Day!
Perhaps you should ask the person (s) that removed the L/aileron from FAH 609 sometime ago c. 2006 what exactly they did with it? Ailerons do not deteriorate or become metal parts when placed in storage.

Zorro, why don't you give it a rest, you obviously are more interested in "stirring the pot" than getting 609 back to some sort of decent condition,Pete

Zorro, that's enough. Zip it!
