B-25 Wild Cargo flew today at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, Virginia after a talk by a World War 2 veteran that flew B-29 missions over Japan, including air cover over the USS Missouri on September 2, 1945 at the surrender ceremony.

Saturday 11/17/12:
Saw a C-47 and a T-6 type in loose formation around Lake Lewisville. Later saw the same C-47 two more times. May have been from Cavanaugh Flight Museum doing historical flight experience rides.

Sunday 11/18/12:
I got to see my first Boeing 787 Dreamliner! They are painted by Leading Edge Completions at Meacham Airport. Today's "78" sighting was in Air India colors. We were stunned by how incredibly quiet the Dreamliner is, even at full power on takeoff! Our hangar is about 300 feet from the runway, and we could barely hear the engines. Just after the mains left the pavement on Rwy 16, the pilots gave us a couple of wing rocks (waving bye-bye!) then sucked up the gear and off they went.

SEE! I've been tellin' all of you how quiet the bird is :D :D geek I think some of the Charleston birds are being painted there, and Boeing is doing some post production mod work @ Kelly on earlier built birds.

Had a big Convair twin low over the house on Saturday headed into Goodyear. (You see it Matt?) White on top, light gray undersides, with a thimble type nose and judging from the racket still equipped with piston power! Was a nice surprise as I was working out in the garage at the time.

That would be N150PA, a VT-29B/CV240-27, one of the planes of my former employer. AeroTransport says it's being operated by Miami Air Lease, but the registration is still with Cool Air Inc (Bud Rude/Air Tahoma).

I suppose it's possible that it was N150PA CAPFlyer but, if so, then it has had a nose job as the first thing I noticed about the one I saw was the much longer, thimble shaped nose cone. Also, I don't recall the black nacelles but I could have overlooked that.

Watched P-40 N2416X (S/N 41-5709) Depart from Cherokee County Airport (KCNI) in North Georgia this morning around 9:00, and watched its return several hours later with a newly minted, type rated pilot. (Congratulations Cullen!)
This afternoon I watched the Movie Memphis Belle departing and arriving at the Coweta County Airport (KCCO), southwest of Atlanta, doing pilot check rides. All in all, a perfect Monday!!!

N150PA has the only "button nose" configuration on the Convairs. If it had a thimble nose, then I don't think it's a Convairliner. I'll do some more checking.

EDIT: Your description of White over Grey threw me off, but I think I know what airplane you're talking about. It's actually all Grey, but it's a wierd finish that makes it look lighter on top than underneath sometimes. The aircraft is N131CR -

Pretty sure you nailed it that time CAP. I went by the airport yesterday and the Convair was still out on the ramp. Although it was pretty far away it appeared to me that the aircraft was overall gray which was a surprise as I was certain I saw white on it when it flew over. I seem to recall a recent thread on this bird orbiting around, I think, San Diego which had drawn the attention of some warbird buffs. I wonder if she's just passing through Goodyear or going to stay for a while?

When she gets back up here to Cherokee, (might go to Concord, N.C. for a few days first) we'll get to dive in on winter maintenance! :supz:

The MetLife airship has been flying around town for the past couple of days (here for the Texas A&M - Missouri football game). Fun to see - Brings back memories of when the Goodyear Blimp used to fly up from Houston for both football games and light shows during Xmas season.

Can't say and I'm not going to ask... ;)

Probably doing a mapping mission somewhere for the US Gov't or a private company. They do a lot of aerial work as that aircraft has both normal mapping cameras and the (honestly much more capable) predecessor to CAP's ARCHER Hyperspectral Imaging system which can be used for a lot of survey work for commercial and government use.

Not today, but yesterday, I saw a Sikorsky Skycrane over Decatur, Texas at abut 5:30 pm. Naturally no camera available, and he was pretty high anyway. Hard to mistake he outline of it though!

If it was orange then ERICSON is doing some tower or antenna work in the area. ERICSON owns the ATC on the CH-54 and makes a few every now and again all in the 'LIMITED' category since they are all workin' dogs.
