The secret to getting something from the major museums is to have something that they want, and find something they they have an excess of and propose a trade. This F6F was owned in full by the USMC museum, and they already have one in their museum, and this one was on loan to the Evergreen Museum.

I am not at liberty to discuss the details, but we were able to acquire an aircraft that has significant USMC history, and since the USMC museum is not in the business of buying aircraft for their museum, we were able to work out a trade. It took several years to complete, so it is not something that happens overnight, but with enough patience it can be done.
