Interesting comments, seems like my original post has been ignored so, lets look at real facts since most are only focusing on "recent events"

Lets take the P-51 for instance, since 1948 there has been 124 total reported accidents/incidents.
50 of which were fatal, all of these have accident reports that you can look up and verify.

17-High altitude acro/spin (above 2500')
6-low level acro (2 in actual waivered airspace with "carded" pilots)
8-bad wx/thunderstorm break up
6-structural failure (3 due to aerobatics at 2500'+)
2- mid air collisions
3-loss of control on take off
3-unknown
2-engine failure
1-propellor run away
1-hit wire/cable

I'll have more on the other popular aircraft later, airshows are more safer than you may think
