Whilst this is a great story, as with much of the Daily Mail's reporting, the original story was not quite as it reported- it almost always sensationalises it's reporting and is notorious for not checking facts. The reason he was not allowed to sit the the plane wasn't because an over officious H+S person as it implied- it was because it didn't have a seat in it so he couldn't sit in it!
Still, he got a ride courtesy of some very generous and helpful people.
