Just a bit altered. The water tower is about a mile to the south and Air Force One would be buzzing I-95 in that position. Still cool photo.

That's not my pic, it's from the NAF Facebook page. I haven't been back to Andrews since 1993. And that is definitely photoshopped. from the angle of the pic, there is no way AF1 would be and that bank and pitch angle and be that small.. anyhoo.

No sir, when it broke off in '92, we had to secure permission from the owner to modify it to spin. that is owned, or was at the time, by a private citizen..

Yes, it's a really bad photochop job at that. That water tower has never said "Navy" on it and it wouldn't be visible from that part of the base at that angle.

I played a gig at Andrews a couple of years back. While we were setting up, Air Force One was practicing touch and goes. What struck me as unusual was how quiet the plane was. I've been twice the distance from planes landing at Reagan National as I was when I was on base at Andrews, yet those planes were significantly noisier...on smaller and less engines.

Hi! I just took a tour of Westpac Restorations in Colorado Springs this past weekend and they have a handful of F6F hellcats in storage waiting for someone to sign on for purchase and restoration by them. They already have a body jig ready and I am sure they would do a great job at a restoration. The aircraft were former target drones. So why bother pulling the one off the pole at Andrews when you can call Colorado and get one already sitting at the shop.
