Beautiful! Quick question: can you crawl throughout the entire aircraft in flight or is that path now blocked by some of the gear which has been installed? It looks like that from some of the photos but that may be my impression, not being that familiar with the Harpoon.

Looks great. Absolutely amazing how it has all come together. Tremendous amount of hard work and $. I have a new favorite flying warbird.

If anyone complains about her not being painted then send them those pics. Wow what a transformation!

She is getting all jammed up with her original gear and equipment but you can still move from cockpit to tunnel gun just not as fast. Almost all of the items that can make your head sore, draw blood or at the least rip up your clothes are back in place. Being a contortionist is certainly helpful when navigating through a Harpoon in her fighting trim but this is true of most all WWII aircraft.

Naw, they will still complain. The paint will come when the timing is right. Be patient please. And thanks for the kind words Peter and the rest of you. The folks who bust their back sides to make her more complete appreciate the positive feedback

Taigh, this is definitely one of the all time great WIX threads. The quality of the work, the attention to detail and the sharing of information (love your pics!) is truly outstanding. This is without a doubt on a par with the Ole 927/Diamond Lil thread.

As an unabashed discusser of all things warbirds - including paint - you won't see me talking anything but good here. I have a lot of patience, and a tremendous amount of respect for your efforts. This is going to be a living museum quality resto, it's clear. So I'll just wait and savor the updates as they come.

Cheers to you, sir, and all your helpers as well!

Taigh,
I kind of like the polished metal look.. reminiscent of a factory test flight before final paint and delivery!

Great stuff, Taigh. Outstanding job. She certainly looks much slimmer as a warbird than she did as a tanker.

Taigh, Doug would be proud! It's too bad we were never able to see these sister ships in formation.

I agree Ryan. I am sad that Doug isn't around to share in this. A formation flight with the two sister ships would have been outstanding.

I would bet though that Doug would have resurrected 062 long before it was going to be cut up for scrap.

I am still hopeful that we can get all three flying Harpoons at the same airport some day for a V formation. That should look pretty cool.

Let's make is happen at OSH next year. Do you think Dave would do Oshkosh two years in a row?

That'd be beautiful, especially over the ocean.

If that were to happen (Oshkosh 2013) We'd have to get Hot Stuff up there as well...too close not to go for it in a big way! Maybe ole Pooner will get one of his going as well?

Lets commit to making it happen then. We should all meet outside and come in to OSH in formation.

To the Hot Stuff gang;

I will make your tunnel gun glass soon and get it sent to you.

Are you all up for making a threesome at OSH next year?

Dave, how about you?

I did manage to fix the leaks in the emergency hydraulic panel and the hydraulic hand pump. Next up are the up latches, the left one being the most needy one.

Sorry I don't have pics, but either Taigh will post them or I will the next time I'm in the shop. pop1
