From what I've been able to research, it appears that Joe Scogna's "Baby Duck" has ended up with Paul Wood at Warbird Heritage Foundation.........anyone know if there was an interim owner and when this transfer took place.....???

Hi Brian, I can answer your questions about Baby Duck. We purchased it directly from Joe Scogna in December 2009. From there it went to Tab-Air in East Troy for a thorough inspection. The wing was sent to Aero Trader in Ca for rebuild and the engine to Vintage V-12's for overhaul. It now has about 40 hours on it since reassembly.
Thanks,
David Staffeldt

Thanks David,, Saw the Warbirds Digest article on WHF a while back, and thought I recognized the letters on the fuselage, and noted the pick-up point as Philly.......Figured it might just be Baby Duck.........great article, and the ship looks super. Lost touch with Joe probably 10 years ago.....used to chat with him in the O.R. lounge on occasion.......appreciate your response.

Best,

Brian

Hi Brian, we're really glad we kept the same paint scheme. We did try to take it a little closer to authentic from a picture Joe gave us of the real Baby Duck from February 1945. We went with the flat OD and no invasion stripes under the stars and bars because of the detail in that photo. It's my favorite Mustang now!
Thanks for the compliment to WHF.

Hey David, you guys did a GREAT job on Baby Duck. I saw her fly last weekend at Thunder and it was great to see it back in the air, and with the same, but improved scheme. The last time I had seen Baby Duck fly was many years ago with Jeff Ethell at the controls. Way to go :supz:

I agree with the thoughts on the great paint scheme, and it was so thoughtful of Vlado to dip those wings on his passes so us photo-obsessives could get some in-flight shots of that OD on the wings!

Vlado did a great job flying Baby Duck at TOM. The P-51 looked great and like Return_with_Honor the last time I saw Baby Duck was with Jeff at the controls at a Geneseo airshow.

Thanks guys for all the good comments. I'm thankful working with an incredible organization and keeping these birds going. The pictures are fantastic and I too love the flat OD!
Thanks again,
David

She was the Mustang that had my attention at OSH. Love the flat OD and authentic spray look. Bravo!
